Sequel to the VR horror shooter game
Containment Initiative 2 is a premium action title for PC developed by Gwyn Games and is the highly anticipated sequel to the first Containment Initiative VR game. In it, players are thrust into various dangerous situations wherein they must find a way to fight back and survive a zombie outbreak that has transpired all across the city.
Compared to the first Containment Initiative game, there are much-improved graphics and visual fidelity in Containment Initiative 2 that help add to the immersion. It also comes with refined weapon mechanics for shooting and reloading that contribute to a more realistic experience.
Fend off the undead
The original Containment Initiative game was an interesting first-person VR shooter that offered solid gameplay with its realistic weapon mechanics and engaging combat. It also features a unique local co-op system that allows two players to play on the same machine, one using a VR headset and the other a mouse and keyboard setup. In comes Containment Initiative 2 which aims to build upon its predecessor.
One of the key ways this sequel has improved over the original is graphics. From the higher-quality environmental design to the weapon details and character models, everything looks more polished. You still get the same asymmetric co-op gameplay wherein both players can progress individually and unlock more guns and attachments. Play on the same machine or with the help of the Steam Remote Play feature.
Explore multiple locations as you scavenge for resources and weapon parts, and face undead enemies for as long as you can. Experience weapon reload animations that mimic the real deal, but will also affect combat — time your reloads correctly. Now, as of this writing, the game is still in Early Access, which means it's not complete yet and development is still ongoing. Hopefully, the full version gets finished soon.
A solid sequel
If you enjoyed playing the original and are looking for more, you'll be glad that Containment Initiative 2 is a worthy sequel that refines the experience visually and gameplay-wise. Although it's not yet complete, it's already shaping up to be a great game even in its current state, so things can only improve further. Check it out and see for yourself.
